The first level of the Maintenance Series is responsible for performing a variety of defined, unskilled laboring tasks associated with routine maintenance activities. Responsibilities may include: operating equipment (e.g., dump truck, plow, chainsaws, mowers etc.) and performing defined preventative maintenance as scheduled.
The facilities division provides maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to the City of Owatonna's 90 buildings/facilities. The total footprint of all facilities is 436,494 square feet and includes 10 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. This Laborer position in the Government Buildings and Grounds division will perform a variety of tasks associated with maintaining these buildings/facilities.
Key tasks include: safely operating power tools & small engines; performing minor carpentry, masonry, HVAC & plumbing work; lawn care & snow removal; and responding to building emergencies & after hour calls for repairs. The Laborer in this division also serves as a backup for cleaning personnel.
