The City of Chesapeake's Department of Public Works is seeking a skilled
Construction Facilities Manager
to lead the planning, design, and construction of major municipal facility projects. This leadership role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and oversee all design and construction activities for municipal facilities.
Manage new construction, renovations, and upgrades to City buildings and infrastructure.
Provide project management and contractual oversight, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal codes, laws, and standards.
Develop and manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and prepare detailed reports.
Lead cost estimating, budget preparation, and performance tracking.
Manage vendor contracts, consultants, and contractors to meet quality, schedule, and cost goals.
Collaborate with City Council, City Manager, and department leaders to deliver facilities that meet community needs.
Qualifications
Proven leadership experience in construction or facilities management.

Required Qualifications
Vocational/Educational Requirement:
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, architectural or construction management. Specialized courses in civil engineering and construction management preferred.
Experience:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of eight (8) years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with
City Driving Standards
. Registered Virginia Architect or Professional Engineer License, Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Certified Project Manager (CPM) certification desired.
Special Requirements:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
