Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the maintenance of the assigned center(s), including the inside and
outside of building in accordance with best practices in building maintenance and
up-keep.
Inform Center Manager and Supervisor of any needs for repairs, replacement of supplies, or unusual conditions or circumstances.
Assist the Facilities Manager in planning for the up-keep of facilities.
Notify Supervisor in case of an accident.
Ensure that toilet tissue, hand towels, soap dispenser refills and other janitorial supplies are available in appropriate locations.
Minor repairs for classroom and office furniture.
Assist with moving or lifting of heavy objects as deemed necessary.
Transport interoffice mail, supplies, and equipment to and from various center locations and Administrative Office.
Submit Mileage Log to Supervisor on a monthly basis.
Responsible for inspecting outside areas for debris, trash, etc. at all assigned centers daily.
Clean assigned Head Start vehicles as needed - use professional car wash service at least once a month for cleaning. Shampooing the carpet of vehicles as needed.
Complete log weekly Vehicle Inspection Checklist and submit monthly to
Supervisor.
Ensure that assigned vehicles meet operating standards and safety requirements at all times.
"On-Call" for snow removal at all facilities, as needed.
"On-Call" to handle building emergencies during nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned by the Facilities Manager to cover his/her absence.
Responsible for all inspections and licenses of assigned vehicles.
Attends required staff meetings and staff development training.
Participates in the self-assessment process.
Sweep and mop classrooms in the assigned center(s).
Sweep and mop hallways in the assigned center(s).
Take out all trash in offices and classrooms in the assigned center(s).
Clean and take out the trash in the bathrooms in the assigned center(s).
Physical Demands:
Ability to pass a physical examination and TB test.
Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasional stooping, kneeling, or crawling.
Work Environment:
The work environment occasionally involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and potentially caustic chemicals.
