Summary/Objective

The purpose of this position is to ensure that the Hearts & Horses facilities are tidy, clean and well-maintained. The Facilities Assistant will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices,

classrooms, meeting rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, breakroom and public areas as well as ensuring paper goods are well supplied in appropriate locations. This position may involve weeding and watering plants and flowers. This is a part-time position; five hours a day, five days a week.

Essential Functions:

Perform janitorial duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing. Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies. Remove trash from classrooms, offices, kitchen, break room, bathrooms, hallways, entryways, and other areas of a facility including exterior grounds. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, performs preventative maintenance of site janitorial equipment as needed. Monitor building facilities for safety and items needing maintenance; report items needing maintenance, as well as unsafe situations to the supervisor. Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Ensure safe use, identification of, mixture and application of cleaning products. Perform exterior custodial and landscape upkeep, as necessary, at the exterior entry points to the two main arena buildings - may include snow and ice removal from sidewalks as needed to ensure safety. Assist with set up, tear down and cleaning after special events; move and set up furniture and equipment as requested. Respond to requests, last-minute needs, unscheduled events, changes, etc. regarding building use. Maintain security of the facility by making sure doors and windows are closed and locked. Monitor building security throughout the shift. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Abilities

Proficient knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning products. Resilient to cleaning agents and chemicals. Strong customer service skills including understanding oral and written communication and English language skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as be a strong team player and integral part of the Hearts & Horses team. High attention to detail as it relates to cleaning; ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Physically agile with ability to handle significant physical activity that's required for this position. Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence. Honest, responsible and dedicated to keeping Hearts & Horses clean and sanitary. Sincere interest in Hearts & Horses' mission and vision. Ability to work as a team player in a casual but busy work environment. Ability to work calmly under pressure.

Minimal Qualifications:

A minimum of 1 year of housekeeping experience or a combination of training and experience in the housekeeping field, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to hear in order to communicate with others and be aware of unsafe conditions. The position requires considerable physical activity and requires the employee to bend; crouch; kneel; climb stairs; reach, with hands and arms; walk or stand for long periods of time. The employee must be capable of lifting, pushing or pulling required objects (cleaning equipment, furniture, etc) of up to 50 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use hands & fingers to hold, grasp, turn, handle or feel objects. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a variety of environmental conditions such as: Sufficient or loud noise, either constant or intermittent, to cause marked distraction Fumes or unpleasant smells that may be related to the use of harsh chemicals within cleaning products or the item or object that's being cleaned. Dust or airborne particles that may be found in a ranch environment. Extreme weather conditions on facility grounds such as wind, snow, ice, extreme cold or heat.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

The Facilities Assistant position is a part-time position requiring work five hours per day, five days a week.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Current Government issued driver's license.

Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Salary & Benefits:
