Position Overview

Tefco Fabrication is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented

Fabrication Prep Technician

to oversee all processes

prior to fabrication

. This individual will be responsible for cutting, staging, and preparing materials to ensure that our fabrication team can operate efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of metal cutting techniques, CNC operation, and fabrication workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Review and interpret

cut lists

, shop drawings, and work orders to prepare jobs accurately.

Cut raw material

using band saws and other shop cutting equipment in accordance with project requirements.

Stage materials

and organize job components for the fabrication team. Operate

CNC plasma table

,

CNC tube cutter

, and

press brake

to prepare parts and components. Ensure material accuracy, proper labeling, and safe handling of all pre-fabricated components. Maintain organized staging areas and assist in workflow scheduling for fabrication readiness. Perform quality checks to ensure all pre-cut and formed materials meet specified tolerances. Communicate proactively with the fabrication team and project managers to identify and resolve any issues before fabrication begins.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience

in a proven fabrication or metalworking environment. Strong ability to

read and interpret cut lists, blueprints, and technical drawings

. Proficient in

bandsaw operation

and knowledgeable in standard metal cutting techniques. Experience operating

CNC plasma tables, CNC tube cutters, and press brakes

required. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational and communication skills. Commitment to safety, accuracy, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with fabrication materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Basic CAD/CAM or CNC programming experience. Forklift or material handling certification a plus.
