The Fabrication Machine Operator is responsible for completing daily fabrication work in the Sheet Metal Fabrication Department. This position ensures that fabrication jobs are being completed correctly and on time. He/She supports efficiently completing assigned tasks and adhering to designated fabrication job schedules to ensure production targets are routinely met. Safety is a high priority. Safe working practices must be strictly followed according to the training and direction of the Fabrication Leader. The primary focus of this role will be on sheet metal fabrication through press brake operation and stud press operation, with light welding duties. Cross training in laser cutting operations and machine loading will offer an additional range of tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this role successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Program and operate a CNC press brake machine
Operate a MIG/TIG welder
Operate a PEM stud insertion machine
Utilize measurement equipment - ie. calipers, protractors, and steel rulers to ensure parts are made correctly
Be cross trained as the designated back up to operate a laser cutting machine center
Operate an overhead lifting device to assist in loading/unloading sheets in the laser cutting area
Promote, implement, and enforce safe work practices. Ensure adherence to safety and operation policies
Follow assigned daily work satisfactorily
Be a part of a cohesive fabrication team which works together to drive productivity and efficiency
Follow the principals of Lean Manufacturing and 5S to reduce inefficiency
Ensure that products are built to engineering drawing specifications
Conduct laser cutting, bending, welding, deburring, machining, grinding, stud pressing, and parts lifting
Follow correct fabrication procedures and follow systems that ensure quality during the production process
Identify areas for manufacturing improvements and report them to the Manufacturing Engineer
Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components according to Engineering drawings and specifications
Maintain equipment and follow preventative maintenance schedules for equipment
Perform other duties as required
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work independently with good follow through, as well as collaborate in a team environment
1-3 years of experience in a metal manufacturing environment preferred
Experience setting up presses and metal cutting equipment is highly desirable
Familiarity with welding procedures and practices
Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and their dimensions/tolerances
Ability to read & interpret measuring equipment: ie. calipers, metal rulers, protractors, and tape measures
Physical requirements include occasional lifting up to 65 LBS., working on feet all day, and frequent bedding and lifting.
In this manufacturing facility, staff are subject to loud noise, moving machinery, & various production hazards
