Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
Minimum three years successful teaching experience
Secondary certification or general administrative endorsement
Successful coaching experience at the middle or high school level
Effective interpersonal and leadership skills; experience facilitating communication between divergent groups and in group decision making
Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the board may find appropriate or acceptable

Essential Job Responsibilities
Assists in recruitment, selection, employment, evaluation, promotion, salary determination, and discipline of athletic coaches
Supervises and/or assumes supervision of all athletic games and tournaments
Meets and instructs students
Prepares for teaching assignment and shows written evidence of preparation and implementation on request of immediate supervisor
Provides an effective program of instruction based on the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
Provides effective and efficient business management for the athletic program
Assures that Athletic Program meets the requirements of state, federal, and IHSA regulations
Coordinates, plans, and submits a recommended athletic program budget (both operating and capital needs) in consultation with the High School Principal.
Prepares specifications for bids of appropriate items approved by the building principal for all athletic programs in the district
Publicizes all facets of the athletic programs
Develops and implements a viable public relations program, awards, and recognition programs
Maintains an inventory of all athletic equipment and is responsible for all athletic facilities
Maintains a complete up-to-date system of records of all athletic events for boys and girls
Keeps abreast of the latest theories of learning through university training, in-service education, staff meetings, conferences, and conventions that relate directly to approved athletic duties
Coordinates the development and refinement of the middle school and secondary school athletic programs and assumes other duties delegated by the high school principal
Communicates clearly and thoroughly
Evaluates all coaching/activities personnel including athletic secretary
Conducts athletic/activity staff meetings and communicates information as necessary to the athletic/activity staff
Directs the implementation of policies and regulations of District 118, the Big 12 Conference and the IHSA. Also serves as athletic director representative to the Big 12 Conference
Mediates parental complaints for program concerns
Attends all away varsity football and varsity boys basketball games
Coordinates and maintains current weekly and semester eligibility records
Supervises and arranges transportation needs
Liaison with athletic boosters
Recommends hiring and assigning needed officials and other supervisory personnel for athletic events
Projects a positive image of the school to the community
Maintains standards specified in Professional Performance Expectations for District 118 Employees*
