This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Dehon Learning Center (DLC) activities program for youth and adults.
Education/Training &Experience:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
A minimum of three (3) years' experiences directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred:
Associate's Degree in Education
Teaching Experience Preferred
Responsibilities:
1. Perform diverse secretarial and clerical duties, relieving the Property Manager of routine administrative responsibilities as needed.
2. Responsible for organizing, planning and attending all Adult Continuing Education (ACE) classes and workshops.
3. Responsible for sending all workshop and activities calendars to PR/Communications Manager for purpose of marketing upcoming classes to Dehon Village, Walls and Lake Cormorant area residents.
4. Measures and maintains quality assurance of activities and programs conducted in Dehon Learning Center.
5. Plan, implement and evaluate all summer program and camp activities.
Plan, implement and evaluate all holiday and special event programs and activities (such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween parties)
7. Observes and ensures all children attending classes, camps and tutoring coursework are safe according to Protection of Children.
Assures work areas, play areas and library areas are kept clean, secure and safe from tripping hazards.
Assures tutoring and educational materials are age appropriate, and that all reading, internet and online learning tools are maintained and resourced at all times.
Collaborates with partner agencies, community banks and local residents on program planning, ACE classes facilitation and scheduling of outreach programs.
Attends community outreach events and council meetings as a representative of Sacred Heart Southern Missions.
Arrives to work on time and maintains regularly scheduled attendance.
Performs other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Understanding of the vision and values of Sacred Heart Southern Missions with a commitment to achieve the goals of the organization.
2. High school diploma or GED required with some higher-level education preferred.
3. Must be able to work well in a service capacity with other employees, clients and vendors to accomplish overall organizational and departmental goals.
4. Working knowledge of personal computer applications including work processing and email software. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision/instruction. Able to establish and meet deadlines.
Supervision Provided by this Position:
There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.
Physical Demands/Conditions:
1. Work is moderate to heavy, involving frequent lifting of objects weighing 10 (ten) pounds to 40 (forty) pounds.
2. Occasionally lifting of heavy equipment or food supplies, weighing up to 40 (forty) pounds or more.
3. Considerable walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and other exercise activities with youth programs.
4. Exposed to heat, humidity, steam, corrosive or caustic chemicals, cooking odors, refrigerator temperatures and wet floors.
Hours Required:
Normal work hours would be 11:30 am to 5:00 pm, with the understanding of working at least one evening shift a week and 1 to 2 Saturday sessions of ACE Classes, which will adjust this schedule.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
