Job Description


The Export Manager is responsible for managing, implementing, maintaining and reporting on the Export Management and Compliance Program (EMCP). The Export Manager manages the Export Team.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of Export Compliance activities using the Global Trade Management system (GTM) and Mouser\xe2\x80\x99s ERP system (UniVerse). Responsible for the continual improvement of Mouser\xe2\x80\x99s Export Management and Compliance Program. Serve as Export Compliance subject matter expert.
  • Work in conjunction with Mouser Trade Compliance Data Team to assure accuracy of the Product Information Management system (PIM) and UniVerse with respect to Harmonized Tariff Schedules, ECCN Numbers, USMCA certification requirements and other export information.
  • Oversee the export management team. Make suggestions and recommendations for these employees regarding performance and change of status, including transfer, advancement, termination, and hiring.
  • Maintain, manage, and assure accuracy of all internal and external administrative requirements including all documentation and reporting of Mouser activities related to export compliance.
  • Complete ongoing audit and implement corrective actions of all export management processes and activities to assure compliance.
  • Work with Sales to ensure compliance and authorize shipments as needed in Sales.
  • Establish effective communication with internal and external business partners. Present complex topics effectively to senior management, public groups and Board of Directors.
  • Accomplish departmental objectives by motivating, training, coaching, and providing detailed guidance to staff through performance management expectations.
  • Determine the training needs of Export team members, conduct Export Compliance training and provide ongoing development and coaching on any quality or productivity concerns within the department.
  • Maintain current and timely Export Compliance knowledge through training, attending conferences, meetings, etc.
  • Develops and maintains a productive work teams by hiring qualified personnel, training, and managing performance.
  • Manages teams with integrity, ethical business practices, and in accordance with Mouser policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more full-time employees or their equivalent. Makes suggestions and recommendation for these employees regarding performance, including hiring, transfer, advancement, and termination.
  • Manages daily operations to meet department and company objectives.
  • Works with minimum supervision and makes independent judgments.
  • Flexible to meet the changing needs of the business and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments.
  • Initiates, establishes and maintains highly effective relationships with internal and external business contacts of various cultures, and at all levels.

  • Demonstrates knowledge, experience and understanding of critical job function of the team and people management.
  • Assists management with development of results oriented strategies.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential part of the job.
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Export Regulations and Laws including EAR, ITAR, sanctions and embargoes. Capable of interpreting regulations and translating them into business practices.
  • Working experience with domestic and international transportation, logistics, physical distribution and freight forwarder requirements.
  • Detailed and thorough in work habits with strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Exhibit strong analytical, problem solving, negotiation, organizational and teaching skills. Ability and knowledge to conduct training on Export Compliance.
  • Capable of analyzing and interpreting scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Effective in writing reports, procedures, business correspondence, articles and presentations.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication and telephone etiquette
  • Proficient with internet e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook and other software
  • Working experience of Global Trade Management program a plus
  • Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in any field, or minimum of 3 years prior work experience that is relevant to the team you will manage. Including:
  • Internal candidates: Minimum 2 years as a highly performing Mouser Team Lead or Supervisor.
  • External candidates: Minimum 3 years as a supervisor or higher-level management position
