Beyond Pets Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled and confident

Experienced Veterinary Assistant

to join our high-performing clinical team. This role is crucial for providing advanced patient care and ensuring our busy practice's smooth, efficient flow. We are looking for a dedicated professional who excels in technical skills, particularly

IV catheter placement

, and can provide exceptional support to our veterinarians and technicians. The ideal candidate is a proactive, compassionate individual with a strong foundation in veterinary medicine who is ready to contribute their expertise to our collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities



Proficiently place IV catheters

and perform venipuncture from various sites (cephalic or saphenous) Assist veterinarians in surgery; prepare surgical packs, monitor anesthesia, and ensure aseptic technique. Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients for a variety of procedures, including those who may be anxious or fractious. Accurately prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as the veterinarian prescribes. Perform diagnostic procedures, including collecting, preparing, and running laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces) and capturing high-quality digital radiographs. Maintain precise and detailed patient medical records using our practice management software. Provide exceptional client communication, including patient updates, discharge instructions, and client education on preventative care and treatment plans. Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in all exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites.

Qualifications



Minimum of 2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant in a clinical setting is required.

Demonstrated proficiency and confidence in placing IV catheters is mandatory.

Solid understanding of veterinary medical terminology, pharmacology, and patient care protocols. Experience with surgical assistance and anesthetic monitoring. Excellent animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of all temperaments. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and team members. High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a veterinary assistant program or college-level coursework is a significant plus.
