Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the pediatric dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
Set up and breakdown operatory post-treatment.
Take dental radiographs (x-rays) using both digital and phosphor plate (ScanX) radiographs with handheld units.
Manage dental supply inventory and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the practice.
Maintain patient records and schedule appointments while ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
Provide patients with instructions for oral care following all dental treatment procedures.
Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling).
Communicate with patients and suppliers (scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing, and ordering supplies).
Help in the prevention and management of dental medical emergencies.
Requirements
Proven experience as a pediatric dental assistant.
Certification or associate degree in an accredited dental assisting program.
High proficiency in using both digital and phosphor plate (ScanX) radiographs with handheld units.
Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures.
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
Understanding of health & safety regulations.
Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is considered a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Good computer skills (experience with dental software, preferably Open Dental).
Legal ability to work in the country.
Compassionate and able to handle young patients in a gentle and effective manner.
Preference given to candidates with pediatric dental experience.
