Job Title/Position: Exhibit Maintenance Technician



Reports to: Exhibit Maintenance Manager and Exhibit Maintenance Supervisor*
Schedule: Saturday - Wednesday (8am-4pm)*
Pay Rate: $20/hr.*




JOB SUMMARY




The Exhibit Maintenance Technician is a high energy, fast paced problem solver, with a proven ability to 'make things', and is comfortable in a workshop as well as a public setting. Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Exhibit Maintenance, the technician will maintain and/or rebuild existing exhibits while contributing to a high-performing customer experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.




Using design drawings, schematics, specifications, select appropriate materials and maintain all finished exhibits Install, maintain, rebuild and/or repair existing exhibits focus on all aspects of repair and integration for exhibits Actively identify and clear exhibit maintenance 'trouble tickets' to ensure short and long-term exhibit safety and functionality. Strong focus on preventative maintenance when feasible + Advise Exhibit Maintenance Manager of developing faults in existing exhibits
+ Recommend design changes or construction changes to improve durability and user safety
+ Strong reporting of recurring maintenance to Exhibit Maintenance Manager
Follow safety procedures in the shop and whenever using tools Ability to maintain and repair a variety of equipment (Training can be provided) Keep a clean and safe working environment: maintained daily Drive forklift as needed for material movement (Certification/training can be provided as needed)

Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday. Required to exert physical effort in handing objects less than 100 pounds often. Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) rarely. Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements sometimes. Normal setting for this job is: shop setting/museum exhibits.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience



High School Diploma or equivalent Two or more years post high school tech or trade oriented training Minimum of one-year practical experience applying electrical, mechanical, and carpentry trade skills Past Field Service work preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities



Requires electrical, mechanical, or carpentry integration experience Metal, wood, and plastic fabrication experience preferred Knowledge of diagnostic tools Requires use of hand and power tools * Experience with Raspberry Pi and or Arduino programming
