: This position is responsible for utilizing assessment options to identify and evaluate patient therapeutic, fitness, health behaviors, and/or sports performance exercise needs. This may include electrodiagnostic testing. The incumbent works with patients and clients to develop treatment programs to assist in rehabilitation, health, fitness, and/or sports performance goals.

Scope

Position scope includes a broad variety of advanced tests, exercises, and therapies. Advancement to this position must be based upon business need and must be approved by the direct supervisor and area director.

Job Essentials

  • Evaluate new patients and clients to determine therapy, treatment, or exercise program needs.
  • Administer diagnostic stress testing. Monitor patient response during and after exercise.
  • Operate all exercise equipment including the treadmill, cycle ergometer, hand cycle, and metabolic testing.
  • Accurate interpretation of ECGs.
  • Develop SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely) goals for patients participating in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Lead patients in cardiac rehabilitation exercises including aerobic, strength, and flexibility movement.
  • Assist patients with prescribed therapeutic and/or fitness/performance-related exercises.
  • Provide education to patients on their exercise program, health needs, and the risks associated with exercise.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and billing same day.
  • Complete the exercise report which outlines the exercise study results such as exercise capacity, ventilatory response, pacemaker function, presence of symptoms, and/or ECG findings.
  • Discuss exercise study results with the cardiology provider or other care team member.
  • Clean, maintain, and inspect exercise equipment. Report repair/maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate care with other patient care providers to ensure proper, continuous, and beneficial treatment.
  • Maintain inventory and a clean exam room.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Participate in evaluation of current practices, program improvement, and development of new procedures and practices to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Continue to enhance knowledge in field of practice and stay updated on industry trends and changes.
  • May provide mentoring, training, and orientation as needed.
  • Mentor student interns as assigned by Exercise Physiologist II or lead over student interns.
  • May provide community fitness, health, and/or athletic performance training.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in a related field such as Exercise Physiology, Human Performance, Exercise Science or Kinesiology. If Bachelor\'s degree is in Kinesiology must have three years of experience in exercise physiology. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Cardiac Rhythm

Previous Cardiac Rehab Experience

Master\'s degree in Exercise Physiology, Human Performance, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology and 1 year of experience.

Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CEP)..

AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) certification.

ACLS Certification.

Upon Hire

ACLS or PALS Certification required within 6 months of hire.

Completion of the Intermountain/Primary Children\xe2\x80\x99s advanced rhythm competency test.

Physical Requirements:

Carrying, Hearing/Listening, Lifting, Manual Dexterity, Pulling/Pushing, Seeing, Speaking, Squatting/Kneeling.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. $22.80 - $35.19
