The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is responsible for fairly and efficiently collecting state tax revenues to fund public services, to regulate charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverage and tobacco, and to support state agencies in the collection of overdue debts. Collectively, each program, unit, division and group work together to provide the core services to taxpayers of the State of Louisiana and stakeholders of the agency. LDR is comprised of the following groups: Tax Collection, Charitable Gaming, Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), Debt Recovery, Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission.

The Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control (ATC) is responsible for overseeing the alcoholic and tobacco industries within the state. The office is comprised of four divisions: Administrative, Business, Legal and Enforcement.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a liaison and advisor to department management regarding organization and operational methods, data processing etc.
  • Able to assume responsibilities of managerial staff in their absence to ensure the furtherance of any ongoing assignment(s).
  • Provide analytical insight along with tactical strategies relative to each arm of the agency.
  • Serves to facilitate project management responsibilities for various implementations throughout the agency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

VACANCY INFORMATION:

  • Detail to Special Duty

Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.

This position will be domiciled in East Baton Rouge Parish . Applicants must select this parish on their application to indicate that they are available to work in the parish of this vacancy.

A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in a public or private sector setting.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field will substitute for the required baccalaureate degree.

Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:

A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree will substitute for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

Graduate training in any field will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.

A master\'s degree in any field will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Graduate training with less than a Ph.D. will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

A Ph.D. in any field will substitute for two years of required experience.

NOTE:
Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience.

NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
