Congregation Ner Tamid seeks an experienced, visionary, and people-centered
professional to serve as Executive Director. This pivotal leadership role oversees all
internal operations of the synagogue, supervises key staff, liaises with the Board of
Trustees, collaborates closely with the clergy, and establishes best-in-class
organizational practices that integrate secular human resources expertise with the
values of Reform Judaism.
The Executive Director will serve as the linchpin for operational excellence and cultural
leadership, establishing a high-performing, mission-driven workplace, cultivating
professional growth, and positioning CNT as a hub of Jewish life in Henderson, with
visibility and influence regionally and nationally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Organizational Culture & Mission Alignment
Integrate Reform Jewish values as articulated by CNT and the Union for Reform
Judaism into workplace culture and staff development
Promote inclusivity, collaboration, transparency, and ethical decision-making
Work closely with clergy to ensure staff engagement, morale, and alignment with
the synagogue's mission
Model and reinforce a professional, high-performing, and values-driven
organizational culture
2. Leadership & Staff Development
Supervise and support approximately five direct reports
Lead staff in professional development, goal-setting, and performance reviews
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and growth mindset
Establish strong internal norms and best-in-class practices drawn from SHRM
and secular HR standards
Provide coaching, mentorship, and opportunities for career growth aligned with
CNT values
3. Board Liaison & Governance
Serve as primary operational contact for the Board of Trustees
Prepare reports, updates, and recommendations for board meetings
Implement board directives with operational excellence and strategic insight
Support leadership in governance, policy development, and organizational
planning
4. Operations & Administration
Oversee all synagogue operations, including office systems, scheduling, facilities
management, and vendor oversight
Ensure compliance with HR policies, OSHA, and workplace safety regulations
Develop and maintain personnel policies, onboarding/offboarding, performance
management, and professional development frameworks
Manage budgets, vendor contracts, and operational metrics in coordination with
leadership
Coordinate outsourced HR/payroll support as needed (e.g., Insperity or similar)
5. Strategic Planning & Organizational Development
Lead operational planning and workflow improvements for efficiency,
accountability, and scalability
Implement continuous improvement initiatives across all departments
Contribute to long-term strategic initiatives that strengthen CNT's operational
foundation and community impact
6. Community Leadership & Visibility
Represent Congregation Ner Tamid to the wider Jewish and civic community
Work closely with clergy to raise the synagogue's profile regionally and nationally
Position CNT as a hub of Jewish life in Henderson, fostering partnerships and
collaborations
Maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for congregants, staff,
and visitors
7. Funding Oversight
Provide direction and guidance to direct reports regarding donor stewardship,
membership retention, and various tzedakah initiatives (ex: Kol Nidre Campaign,
annual gala fundraiser, legacy/bequest plans, etc.)
Lead or coordinate grant writing
Ensure compliance with reporting and accountability requirements for all grants
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
Proven experience in nonprofit administration, operations management, or senior
leadership
At least 3 years of direct people-management experience, including supervising
managers or senior staff
Expertise in human resources, professional development, and implementing best
practices
Demonstrated ability to cultivate a growth mindset, continuous improvement, and
high-performing culture
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Experience with budgeting, vendor management, and operational oversight
Comfort liaising with boards and senior leadership
Passion for Jewish communal life and the mission of Congregation Ner Tamid
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000 per year
