Job Description

Under the direction of a Tribal Councilor, the incumbent performs varied and highly confidential administrative duties. Compiles moderately complex reports, which require data gathering and research initiative. Independently conducts studies on a broad range of nuanced and confidential matters requiring a high degree of discretionary judgment. Works with Tribal Council staff on the status of department projects and compiles status reports. Administratively oversees office wide initiatives. May supervise other members of the Councilor's team. Demonstrates an ability to work in a high-pressure environment requiring a frequent need to multi-task and be proactive. Must have exceptional time management, organizational, and event management skills. Must be trustworthy, have high ethical standards, critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills, networking, strategic planning and interpersonal relationship skills. High school diploma or the equivalent (GED), plus six (6) or more years of high level independent administrative work experience is required. Must be capable of project planning, multitasking, have strong writing skills and be able to exhibit tact and diplomacy in the face of opposition when dealing with sensitive and controversial subject matter. Previous supervisory or project leadership skills are highly desirable as well as experience in working with office budgets and in monitoring budget expenses and reporting to management spending variances. Must be proficient in using Windows software, such as word, excel, spreadsheets, presentation, graphics and PC database applications. A valid motor vehicle driver's license is required.



Previous Executive Assistant experience working with a Tribal Council or Executive board is a plus. Interest in Natural Resources and or Tribal Law is a plus.
