Exceptional Student Services (ESS) Teacher on Special Assignment

SUMMARY:
The ESS TOSA is to assist the ESS Director in the implementation and coordination of special education services and programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Parentally placed private school & homeschool services (proportionate share): Manage annual consultation, service delivery, and expenditure tracking.
+ Private day placements: Coordinate intake, IEP participation and review, placement decisions, and progress monitoring for students in private day settings.
+ Vision & D/HH services (ASDB, PDSD): Complete referrals, serve as district representative, coordinate with state schools, and monitor student services and agreements.
+ Alternate assessments (ALT ELPA Screener, ALT ELPA, MSAA): Oversee eligibility, training, administration, and participation monitoring for compliance.
+ Specialized transportation coordination: Act as liaison with transportation ensuring accurate implementation of IEP services.
+ IEP facilitation and support: Provide facilitation for complex IEP meetings to ensure procedural compliance and positive collaboration with families.
+ Administration of IEPPRO: Manage logins, provide user training, troubleshoot issues, and monitor documentation quality for METs and IEPs.
+ Transitions - Preschool to Kindergarten: Lead meetings, align placement decisions, and ensure smooth program entry.
+ Transitions - 8th to 9th grade (PUHSD): Coordinate articulation with high schools to ensure timely record transfer and service alignment.
+ Foster Care (Best Interest Determination meetings): Participate in BID meetings, collaborate with DCS and partners, and document placement decisions.
+ Out-of-District placements: Review incoming IEPs and service requirements, coordinate placements, and ensure continuity of services.
+ Extended School Year (ESY): Coordinate eligibility decisions, staffing, scheduling, program design, and compliance reporting.
+ Institutional & Residential Vouchers (ADEConnect): Process and monitor vouchers in ADEConnect, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state requirements.
+ Ongoing compliance monitoring: Track and review IDEA, ADE program support and monitoring, assessment, and placement requirements to ensure proactive compliance.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor or Master Degree in Education or Related Field
Three (3) years working in the field of special education preferred
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
+ Skilled at working with others in a professional learning environment
+ Accurate and effective working knowledge of IDEA and state regulation
+ Supervisory experience and ability to multi-task
+ Ability to organize ideas and communicate them with clarity and conciseness in a variety of settings
+ Experience with curriculum accommodations, modification or adaptations, specially designed instruction and assessments
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The working environment is district office.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve (12) month year, Certified Coach Salary Schedule, employee benefits in accordance with Board Policies
EVALUATION:
Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of certified coach and teacher on special assignment.
