The starting salary range for this position is $20.21 - $23.25, depending on qualifications
This position is Essential and is required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.
Hands-on position that performs detail-oriented, technical, and physical duties associated with events (prior to, during and after). Technician is responsible for the setup up and operation of basic and/or small scale audiovisual (AV) systems. Provides a high-level of customer service and support to clients and event staff. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City and the Event Center.
This position is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 days per week availability during City of Port St Lucie emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager or City Officials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
  • Ensures a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic AV equipment.
  • Completes event layouts in an efficient, timely, and correct manner according to their drawn, written, and/or verbal instructions.
  • Sets up and tears down equipment for events; cleans the facility; maintains equipment; cleans and maintains the facility grounds.
  • Performs set up of tables, chairs, risers, stage, pipe and drape, audio, and other equipment; vacuums, sweeps, and cleans.
  • Hangs drapes, flags, curtains, and similar objects.
  • Operates audio, visual, and equipment related to events. Sets up AV equipment as required in advance for events, lectures, and presentations.
  • Provides users with advice, training, and support on the use of AV equipment.
  • Understands the technical aspects of the job and demonstrates basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues.
  • Provides a high level of customer service and general support to student and professional staff events and activities.
  • Performs repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Operates motorized equipment such as floor scrubber, street sweeper, golfcart, and electric work utility vehicle. If designated to operate either the forklift or scissor lift, training will be provided.
  • Performs event set-up inspections.
  • Works any shift, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Communicates clearly, effectively, and tactfully, orally and in writing, including understanding and following instructions, procedures, and event diagrams.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease event set-up and tear-down times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Minimum of six (6) months experience performing physical tasks and maintenance duties in a similar-type facility required. Familiarity with small power tools, AV devices, and equipment used in set-up and tear-down associated with events preferred. Possession of Valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of clean driving record required.

  • Knowledge of general repair and maintenance techniques to keep buildings and equipment in good repair.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of event equipment, AV devices, and other technical terminology used within the department.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve equipment and event software issues.

  • Skill in using related equipment and tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally and follow directions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
