Event Captain

LOCATION: Salthouse Catering 1740 Signal Point Road, Unit 200, Charleston, SC 29412; event locations throughout Charleston & surrounding areas

The

Event Captain

is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing a team of servers to deliver and achieve superb event execution for clients. The position requires an understanding of catering business and operations and must have exceptional people skills as well as possess the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients. Additionally, The Event Captain must exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment, flexibility and discretion in the performance of assigned duties.

The

Event Captain

should possess the passion to connect with and satisfy the needs of clients and build a mutually productive and on-going relationship. They are responsible for exemplifying the Salthouse culture, mission, and values. This is a part-time hourly position (non-exempt).

Duties include:

? Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to familiarize yourself with floor plans, dietary restrictions, timelines, etc.

? Manage the setup of events based on requirements and communicate with onsite contact

? Maintain time log for all employees

? Conduct shift meetings and ensuring all employees are in proper attire

? Assess and manage staffing needs throughout shift for labor expense control

? Serve as point-of-contact, communication and coordinating, between sales manager, client, Operations Manager, and staff

? Organize/Distribute event rental orders and resolve issues when missing equipment

? Perform all closing duties from an event which includes checking out with venue contacts

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

? High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

? Experience in catering.

? Minimum of 2 years' experience in serving or banquet service.

? Must be able to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time.

? Frequently move equipment onsite up to 40 pounds.

? Occasionally must work in outdoor weather conditions.

? Reliable source of transportation is a must due to events being throughout the Charleston area.

? Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and holidays (when needed).

? Assist loading and unloading vehicles, as needed.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 - 30.0 per week
