Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, safety-oriented Etching Tech/Print Room Floater to join our team on the 1st shift from 6:30 AM-2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

In etching, this individual will run a test plate to calibrate the machine and then use the etching matching to etch the production plate. Plate is then cleaned and measured to confirm specs are achieved. The tech will cross train in dry ice blasting and assist or fill in as needed.

In the Print Room, this floater will prepare plates for printing. This includes preparing the print machine for running the plate by following a variety of tasks, running the plates to specifications for print, cleaning and performing preventative maintenance on Digital and Offset printers as needed.

Etching Duties:

Inspect plates for any defects before the etching process Inspect nozzle spray pattern in etch machine to ensure no clogging Run small test plate to calibrate machine before running production plate and measure the test plate(Metric system) to confirm correct calibration Clean the plate and measure after etching Measure plates from other processes Work with the following: Overhead crane, jib crane, vacuum lift, etch machine, floor brush machine, profilometer, dry ice machine, and hardness tester.
Digital Duties:

Perform daily maintenance on the printer Inspect forerunner plate and production plate to ensure cleanliness and no defects before printing Print forerunner plate and lab plates. Inspect plate for any print defects that may need correcting before production plate is printed Measure production plate (length and width). Set gaskets in vacuum chucks to match the size of the production plate Prepare plate for print run by taking at least 3 readings on each end using a micrometer to determine average thickness. Move plate to loading position on the table and ensure the back of the plate is clean and dry. Adjust the plate on the table. Use cranes and vacuum lifts to move heavy plates and material Prepare the print machine for the print run Print plates according to specs and checks for defects. Clean and reprint plates with discovered defects in printing When print is dry, remove plate from the table using the crane and place on cart for next step Complete paperwork to document Clean printer, roller, and perform preventative maintenance on machine and roller
Offset Printer:

Load data in computer to be printed. Load image file in software and sets parameters for printing Work independently with minimal supervision Complete paperwork for documentation Work in other areas such as Dry Ice and Etching and any other needed area Be present daily according to work schedule for both Etch and Print Rooms

Requirements

Must occasionally lift and or move 50 to 75 pounds. Uses crane for heavy lifting. Requires Close Vision, Distance Vision, Peripheral Vision, Depth Perception, and Ability to adjust focus. Must concentrate mental and visual attention closely planning and laying out complex work or coordinating a high degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention for sustained periods. Required to stand, walk and may also need to crouch stoop, climb, balance, kneel, or crawl at times. Use hands to handle, feel, or reach. Must be able to talk or hear. Exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in etching and must at times wear a respirator Must be alert and safety sensitive Must tolerate loud noise levels in etching department when equipment is running
