Crooker Construction is looking to hire an experienced candidate with a focus on safety and teamwork to join the team as an Estimator. The position will be responsible for preparing and coordinating the preparation of full cost estimates on earthwork construction and paving projects of varying sizes. This position will be involved in pre-construction budgeting and negotiations, project bidding, and change order pricing as needed.

Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Review earthwork construction and paving documents to understand requests for bids and the scope of work associated with each bid. Estimate projects in all sectors including private/negotiated work, municipal, and state projects. Visit potential project sites as required, including attending pre-bids. Prepare complete and full estimate to complete the scope of the work outlined within the bid document including take-offs, material, labor, trucking, equipment, etc. Update weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates. Represent Crooker at bid openings. Work with subcontractors and vendors to obtain accurate bids and scopes of work. Utilize industry software for design drawings, takeoff, earthwork analysis, scheduling and bid structuring, etc. Prepare basic/budgetary project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment. Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc. Transition projects to project management staff including scope reviews and establishing budget. Attend meetings with towns, project owners, and state officials as required.
The position is based in Topsham and is full-time, year-round. The position performs duties in an office setting as well as visits in the field on earthwork construction and paving projects. Evenings and weekends will be required as job duties demand meeting deadlines. The Estimator must be available via email, text, and phone during evenings/weekends.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. 5 years of experience estimating earthwork and paving projects. Must have working knowledge of construction methods, techniques, materials, and production as it relates to earthwork and paving. Must be familiar with all state and federal regulations as they relate to construction projects, safety, and environmental compliance. Previous supervisory experience. Must have working knowledge and previous experience with CAD, Agtek earthwork software, Microsoft Project scheduling software, Bluebeam Takeoff, Bid2Win Estimate or any software like those. Class C Driver's License required. Professional Engineering License preferred but not required.
