Job Description

Review project plans, specifications, and related documents for municipal and private water infrastructure projects Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, equipment, labor, subcontractors, and permitting Analyze project timelines, site conditions, and potential risks to develop comprehensive bid proposals Perform quantity takeoffs for water mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, and related underground utilities Coordinate with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and proposal reviews to fully understand project scope Maintain organized records of bid submissions, revisions, and vendor quotes Support handoff to operations teams after award, ensuring a smooth transition from bid to build Track market pricing trends and update cost databases as needed
Experience in water, utility, or civil construction estimating Strong knowledge of underground utilities, water distribution systems, and construction methods Ability to read and interpret blueprints, civil plans, and technical specifications Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff tools, and Microsoft Excel Strong mathematical, analytical, and communication skills Ability to juggle multiple bids without crying (publicly) * Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
