Job Description

The Role



The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids for custom architectural millwork and fixture manufacturing projects. This individual will evaluate drawings, specifications, and material requirements to develop detailed cost estimates that align with production capabilities, project timelines, and profitability goals.

Reporting to the Design & Sales Director, the Estimator will collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Project Management teams to ensure seamless project execution from bid through delivery.

The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of millwork, casework, and related materials, combined with a detail-oriented, analytical mindset. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating architectural concepts into precise, executable cost models while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities



Review architectural drawings and project specifications to determine scope, materials, and labor requirements. Perform detailed takeoffs for millwork, casework, and related subcontracted scopes (e.g., metalwork, solid surface, upholstery). Prepare accurate and timely pricing estimates that include materials, fabrication, finishing, installation labor, and overhead. Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, and Project Management to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with operational capabilities. Communicate with customers and vendors to obtain pricing, clarify scope, and support relationship development. Participate in project handoffs and kickoff meetings to ensure clarity on estimated scope and assumptions. Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating tools, processes, and documentation. Maintain consistent and dependable attendance and adherence to safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications



Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in commercial custom millwork or related manufacturing environment. Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications. Strong understanding of casework manufacturing processes and AWI standards. Experience using estimating or design software such as Bluebeam, Innergy, Mozaic, Bid Board, or Procore. Working knowledge of Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite. Background in materials such as veneer, solid surface, phenolic, and Thinscape. Excellent math, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines. Team-first mindset with a collaborative, solution-oriented approach. Ability to travel up to 25% for site visits or vendor meetings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
