The Position
The
Esports Program Recruitment Specialist
is a vital, high-impact role responsible for driving the competitive and financial viability of California Intercontinental University's new
varsity esports program
. This is a
specialist-level position
that requires a strong entrepreneurial spirit and proven ability to meet recruitment and sales targets. The Specialist is the
main day-to-day contact
for all esports program matters.
Working
hand-in-hand
with the overarching
Operations Manager (OM)
, the Specialist will be a
co-builder
of the new varsity program. This role is central to executing the growth strategy, focusing on
recruitment, pipeline management, and external relations
, providing direct, high-impact input to the OM during this crucial
the talent acquisition strategy in partnershipwith the OM to secure top
student-athletes
.
Recruitment Funnel & Sales:
Manage a robust
pipeline
utilizing
sales-focused techniques
and Customer Relationship Management (
CRM
) tools to track
prospecting
efforts from initial contact through enrollment.
Scholarship Negotiation:
Clearly articulate the value proposition of the CIU program and manage
scholarship negotiation
to achieve enrollment conversion targets.
Admissions & Eligibility Support:
Work closely with Admissions to streamline the enrollment process. Collaboratewith the OM on tracking to ensure recruits meet all
NACE
and university
academic eligibility
standards.
Outreach & Events:
Coordinate and conduct recruiting visits, virtual meetings, and informational sessions. Represent CIU at external esports tournaments, high school recruitment fairs, and online communities like
Discord
.
II. Program Promotion, Sales, & External Relations
Sponsorship Cultivation:
Act as a key liaison to identify, initiate contact with, and
collaborate directly with the OM
on high-value
sponsorship cultivation
and external partnerships.
Brand Promotion & Content:
Collaborate with University Marketing to develop engaging digital content and support
livestream production
to enhance the program's competitive brand presence.
External Relations:
Maintain key relationships with community partners, providing market feedback to the OM.
III. Operational Support & Strategic Input (Day-to-Day Esports Management)
Esports Program Execution:
Serve as the
main operational contact
for the esports program's daily needs, reporting status and critical issues directly to the OM.
Reporting:
Track and analyze
key growth metrics
, presenting actionable data to the OM to
collaboratively refine
the recruitment and sales strategies.
Logistics & Policy:
Coordinate travel, uniform ordering, and scheduling. Assist the OM in compiling and communicating team handbooks and policies.
Facility Input:
Provide active input
to the OM on facility readiness, equipment needs, and the basic
program launch
timeline.
QualificationsRequired Education & Experience
Reporting Line:
Works
hand-in-hand
with the
Operations Manager
and coordinates closely with the
Athletics Department
.
Education:
Bachelor's degree
from an accredited institution.
Direct Esports Experience:
Minimum of
1-2 years
of professional experience in
sales, student recruitment, admissions, or athletic/program promotion
within the competitive esports industry(collegiate, professional, or high-level amateur setting).
Industry Knowledge:
Mandatory deep understanding
of the current
collegiate esports
landscape, governance (e.g., NACE), and the dynamics of competitive
game titles
.
Recruitment Acumen:
Demonstrated success in meeting enrollment/sales targets,
prospecting
, and managing a high-volume pipeline.
Startup Mindset:
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a
startup environment
or during a new program launch, showing adaptability and a willingness to contribute strategically beyond baseline execution.
Communication:
Exceptional and persuasive verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to "sell" a vision and program to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience as a competitive esports player, coach, or
shotcaller
.
Experience utilizing a
CRM
or student tracking software.
Familiarity with compliance standards for collegiate student-athletes and the
NACE Starleague
framework.
Salary - 60-70K
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
