Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our adult educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for adult immigrant students of varying backgrounds and abilities. This role involves facilitating ESOL classes for adult students, managing classroom behavior, and implementing effective teaching strategies to enhance student learning outcomes. Experience working with adults, particularly those with literacy needs, is highly desirable. Spanish or Portuguese fluency is highly desired.

Classes are offered 9am to 12 noon or 6pm to 9 pm two days per week. Classes usually run Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards. Facilitate student centered classes that speak to adult experiences and needs. Manage classroom activities and maintain an orderly environment conducive to learning. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, including special education requirements. Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and collaboration. Monitor student performance and provide constructive feedback to promote growth.

Skills

Strong experience working with adult students. Excellent classroom management skills to maintain a productive learning environment. Solid understanding of language concepts and ability to teach them effectively. Exceptional communication skills for interacting with adult students. Experience in adult education or working with teaching ESOL is a plus.
