POSITION SUMMARY: Audax Private Equity is seeking an Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Associate to work directly with our ESG Director. The ESG Associate will primarily focus on partnering with the ESG Director to further integrate ESG best practices throughout the deal lifecycle. They will work closely with members of the Portfolio Support team, deal teams, portfolio company management teams, Investor Relations, as well as a network of ESG advisory firms. The role requires the ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks and deliverables in a deadline-oriented environment. Successful candidates are creative problem-solvers and self-starters who have the proven ability to produce results. Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, quantitative and qualitative reasoning ability, and a rigorous work ethic are prerequisites. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partner with ESG advisory firms to coordinate ESG diligence activities.
  • Partner with the ESG Director, deal teams, and portfolio company management teams post close to work through risk remediation and ESG improvement plans with the overall objective of upleveling ESG maturity over the Audax hold period.
  • Manage and continue to improve the systematic collection of ESG metrics from portfolio companies with an eye to driving improvement against goals, supporting integration of ESG metrics into value creation efforts, and supporting cross-portfolio collaboration/sharing of best practices.
  • Build out ESG toolkits (best demonstrated practice examples, policy templates, etc.) for portfolio company management teams to leverage as they implement ESG programs.
  • Support compilation of annual Audax PE ESG report and UN PRI reporting materials.
  • Compile and support delivery of materials for periodic internal ESG trainings and updates
  • Support coordination of Audax Community of Practice ESG calls with portfolio ESG leaders.
  • Keep up to date on sustainable finance trends and best practices across other PE firms by participating in working group discussions, webinars, and conferences.
  • Support compilation of external ESG reporting and presentation materials for Audax\' Limited Partners.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-5 years of experience in ESG or related fields
  • Prior work experience in ESG consulting, corporate ESG program development, ESG framework (TCFD, SASB, GRI, etc.) reporting, asset/portfolio management and reporting or a comparable data analytics role preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, extremely detail-oriented
  • Self-starter with the willingness to learn.
  • At least a conceptual understanding of Private Equity
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in an environment of tight deadlines and high-quality standards.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional, proactive attitude
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word
