The Virginia Department of Taxation is seeking a skilled and experienced supervisor to lead and support a team of TAX Error Resolvers assigned to handle business tax accounts. This role involves managing, coaching, and mentoring staff responsible for analyzing and correcting business tax account discrepancies. The supervisor will be responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring worklist inventories, approvals, and unit activities to ensure the team meets established goals with accuracy, timeliness, priorities, and quality.
The Error Resolution unit is a department with over 50 professionals dedicated to exception handling in a fast-paced production environment. The unit is organized into two teams to include one team focused on individual tax accounts and the other on business tax counts. The Error Resolution unit has a critical role of analyzing and correcting inaccuracies on submitted tax returns and payments before they can be posted to a taxpayer's account.
The position is located at our Westmoreland Office in Richmond, Virginia. This position is eligible for telework. Employee will have the opportunity to telework on Monday and Friday and will be required in the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $67,000

Minimum Qualifications
Proven ability to supervise staff in a high volume, fast-paced production environment
Knowledge and experience working with federal and/or state taxes, tax forms and tax laws and regulations
Demonstrated experience and proficiency with financial or accounting software systems, along with a strong ability to quickly learn new platforms
Proven ability to assess business needs, establish work priorities, and assign necessary tasks to staff
Experience with evaluating staff performance and assessing staff training needs
Ability to work in and supervise others in both an in person and virtual work environment
Additional Considerations
Advanced knowledge in areas such as business administration, public administration, accounting, taxes, and/or other relevant areas
Familiarity with business tax principles and practices, or prior experience in a business tax or other tax-related role.
Experience working with internal systems such as IRMS, Advantage Revenue, Image Retrieval and Siebel
