Duty Shift: nights 4p -4a Wednesday - Saturday

Duty Summary: Primary responsibilities are admitting ER patients and assisting Data Processing Clerk.



Education: High School graduate or equivalent.



Personal Job-Related Skills: Familiar with operating personal computers and knowledge of general clerical duties.



Experience: One-year previous computer experience and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

(With or without the aid of mechanical devices)



1. Position requires intermittent walking, sitting and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching required with the lifting up to 20 pounds and occasional heavy lifting in supporting or moving patients that may suddenly become weak or helpless.


2. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.


3. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.


4. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.


5. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, personnel, and support agencies.


6. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of patients during emergency situations.

Responsibilities

1) Answer incoming phone calls.


2) Following all admission procedures, admit ER and outpatients when presented.


a) Assign admission numbers and new patient numbers.



b) Assisting ER personnel with necessary paperwork.



3) Complete in-patient admitting process when patient is admitted directly from the ER.


5) Assist other Business Office personnel as needed.

Other Significant Requirements

1) The ER clerk's shift includes holidays. If a holiday falls on a regularly scheduled day, the ER position must be filled.


2) Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. (per HIPAA guidelines)
