POSITION DESCRIPTION



Level I - Operates and maintains small dozers (D-5 size or less); backhoe; wheel or track loaders (up to 2.0 cubic yards); truck mounted dry-hole auger; large mud jack; winch trucks, and tilt-trailer hauling equipment; and other similar size construction equipment. Necessary mechanical knowledge and judgment to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs and to assist in major repair of such equipment. Do fundamental welding, install and repair structures and repair pipelines.

Level II - Operates and maintains large dozers (D-6 or larger); pull scrapers (9 cubic yard and larger); motor grader; self-loading scrapers (9 cu. yd. and larger); draglines; hydraulic excavators; 8-inch or 10-inch dredge; tractor trailers; and similar-sized construction equipment. Have the necessary mechanical knowledge and training to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs. Ability to follow grade stake instructions and use laser level. Know construction methods and procedures relative to digging ditches, pipeline and membrane lining installation, construction of timber bridges, form building and concrete placement, structure installation and repair and use of heavy machine accessory repairs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



High school degree or equivalent education Maintain a valid Nebraska driver's license with appropriate CDL endorsements and a responsible driving record Able to obtain appropriate chemical application certification (such as aquatic herbicides)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



Level I

Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of small dozers (D-5 size or less); backhoe; wheel or track loaders (up to 2.0 cubic yards); truck mounted dry-hole auger; large mud jack; dump trucks, winch trucks, and tilt-trailer hauling equipment; and other similar size construction equipment. Moderate responsibility for routine planning and for taking corrective actions during an emergency Responsible for work-site performance of personnel as it pertains to safety, and effective coordinated usage of equipment Dredge operators will be expected to perform shift work as required. Report usage hours for equipment along with materials and fuel used Available on an infrequent basis for emergency call-outs Perform other duties as assigned
Level II:

Responsible for safe operation and operation of large dozers (D-6 or larger); pull scrapers; self-loading scrapers; draglines (clam shell, pile driver, orange peel and excavating bucket); 8-inch or 10-inch dredge; hydraulic excavators; low-boy tractors and 25-ton and up capacity trailers; motor grader; and similar-sized construction equipment. Plans own short range and routine activities. Responsible for work-site performance and safety of own and other personnel. Available on an infrequent basis for emergency call-outs Perform other duties as assigned

Pay: $26.90 - $30.38 per hour
