Position Summary

--------------------

Operate a variety of equipment used at golf courses, parks, open space and in street maintenance; perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and perform a range of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



High school diploma or GED;

and



Two (2) years of experience performing general grounds maintenance work involving the operation of light maintenance equipment and hand tools.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B).

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Operation and maintenance requirements of a variety of light equipment and hand tools Practices, methods and materials used in grounds maintenance and general maintenance work Principles and practices of tree, plant and turf care including proper fertilization techniques Principles and procedures of spraying herbicide and fungicide Methods and techniques of asphalt sealing Occupational hazards and standard safety practices Traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in equipment operations

Operate a variety of light maintenance equipment and small hand tools including, but not limited to, gas and diesel powered engines/equipment such as dump/flat bed truck, lawn mowers, blowers, weed eaters, etc. in a safe and effective manner Load and haul debris Perform asphalt-sealing functions Perform daily equipment maintenance inspections Perform a variety of semi-skilled grounds maintenance tasks Operate a variety of vehicles in a safe and effective manner Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods in unfavorable weather conditions Understand and follow oral and written instructions Communicate clearly and concisely Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work * Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
