About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused

Utility Operator

to join our team. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently performing excavation and utility work around existing underground infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment and a strong understanding of how to work precisely around water, sewer, gas, electric, and communication lines.

Key Responsibilities

Operate excavation and earthmoving equipment (e.g., excavators, backhoes, mini-excavators, loaders) in a safe and controlled manner. Excavate and expose existing utilities with precision to prevent damage to underground infrastructure. Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and locate markings. Perform hand digging and vacuum excavation when required to ensure safe exposure of utilities. Conduct routine maintenance checks and report equipment issues. Follow all company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and local permitting requirements. Work closely with utility locators, foremen, and project managers to ensure efficient project completion. Maintain accurate daily logs and documentation of work performed.

Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years operating excavation or utility-related equipment (preferred).

Knowledge:

Understanding of underground utility systems, soil conditions, and safe digging practices.

Licenses/Certifications:

Valid driver's license (CDL preferred). OSHA 10 or 30 certification (a plus). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various outdoor conditions. Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
