APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY - $54,434.16 to $80,053.92 PAY GRADE: 31

The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position provides training for all employees within the subdistrict. The Equipment Operator Instructor manages training schedules, conducts traffic control and equipment training, performs daily yard inspections, and investigates personal injury and vehicle crashes. Incumbent provides new hire orientation safety training and serves as a third-party certifier for CDL holders. Incumbent is also responsible for maintaining training records for all personnel, including driving records, physical examinations, and equipment training. This position may require working alternate shifts and outside of traditional business hours. The hours for this position are subject to change depending on the needs of the appointing authority. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience operating a variety of complex highway construction and maintenance equipment; OR three years of experience as Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.


Special Requirements

A valid Nevada Class A, Commercial Driver's License (CDL), is required within 6 months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.


Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law required random testing for controlled substances during employment.
