We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Equine Rehabilitation Technician to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care and rehabilitation services to equine patients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in equine care, and demonstrate proficiency in various veterinary practices. You will work closely with veterinarians and other staff to ensure the well-being and recovery of our equine patients.
Responsibilities
Assist in the rehabilitation of horses through therapeutic exercises and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for all animals, ensuring proper sanitation protocols are followed.
Monitor the health and behavior of equine patients, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinary team.
Administer medications, perform animal catheterization, and assist with animal restraint as needed.
Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection.
Provide basic grooming and care for horses, including feeding, bathing, and exercise routines.
Document patient progress and treatment plans accurately within the medical records system.
Collaborate with the veterinary team to implement rehabilitation protocols tailored to each horse's needs.
Support other staff members in daily operations, including kennel duties and handling of other animals as required.
Requirements
Proven experience in equine husbandry or veterinary settings is preferred.
Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy knowledge, and critical care practices is essential.
Experience with equine handling and rehabilitation techniques is highly desirable.
Knowledge of dental terminology related to equine care is a plus.
Background in laboratory procedures or veterinary technician experience is beneficial.
Skills in dog handling, training, grooming, and pet care will be considered an asset.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment while demonstrating strong communication skills.
