Job Responsibilities

The Epidemiologist 1, under the supervision of the AVERT-GA Principal Investigator, will conduct analysis, cluster, and quality improvement investigations using the Georgia Syndromic data focused on Violence as defined by the CDC/National Program for Injury Control and Prevention. Epidemiologist 1 will verify state and county aggregate quarterly reports stratified by month for indicator occurring from July 2025 to June 2028 within 3 months of the violent injury. Epidemiologist 1 will be responsible for conducting data analyses and working with the Data Dissemination Committee to disseminate data and write reports based on the plan. The Epidemiologist 1 will work with partners to conduct data analysis to estimate violent -related injuries using various validated data sets, produce and disseminate data reports on the Georgia public health websites (Dashboard) and at professional meetings to reach a diverse group of stakeholders, including Georgia policy makers, healthcare and public health communities, law enforcement, first responders and the public. The Epidemiologist 1 will also work with the scientific community to advance violence-related injury related research in Georgia

Essential Duties/Responsibilities



Work with QI Consultant to perform ongoing quality control checks on data sets. Work under the supervision of the PI to conduct evaluation activities, including the development of effective quantitative and qualitative data collection, monitoring, and reporting systems. Standardize data format from multiple data sources and upload data into electronic database. Design and lead epidemiologic projects related to injuries. Analyze, prepare and disseminate epidemiologic products (scientific manuscripts, abstracts, reports, fact sheets and info graphics) Present findings to stakeholders and at scientific conferences. Prepare annual nonfatal firearm related injury epidemiologic reports. Assist in writing grant application.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field.

Preferred Qualification



1 year experience working statistical software (SAS, R, SQL, Python, etc..) for performing data analysis. Team player - ability to work well with people with different background and skill set. Possess people skill to collaborate and engage with several partners across the state.
