POSITION: TITLE I ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TUTORS- 4 Positions

$35.00 per hour not to exceed 68 hours per tutor

EVALUATION:

Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code 18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and UCBOE Policy 5010

JOB

SUMMARY:

Provide explicit instruction in a one-to-one or small group setting to assist students in improving academic skills of a particular student or group of students to support regular classroom instruction. Works with school principal and classroom teachers to design and create intervention plans of learning aligned with regular classroom reading and math objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Work with classroom teachers to develop and implement proven instructional support and intervention models.
+ Provide high quality instruction and performance support for students who are at-risk in English Language Arts and Math as identified by the benchmark cut score data
+ Utilize identified scientific, research-based interventions focused on small group and individual student needs.
+ Identify student's instructional strengths and weaknesses by administering assessments to guide instruction.
+ Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and individual instruction.
+ Prepare lesson plans for identified students.
+ Maintain accurate reports and documentation required for Title I to be submitted in a timely manner.
+ Maintain the confidentiality of school and student records.
+ Perform such other tasks and assume responsibility as the immediate supervisors may from time to time assign related to support the identified students and families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code 18A-3-2 and/or master's degree in Reading K-12 or Remedial Reading; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code

18-5-15c and/or 18A-3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code 18A-3-2a.


Preference will be given to regular employees at each location, due to FERPA regulations and collaboration with classroom teachers.
