The Team Leader is responsible for the overall financial performance, leadership, and management of the team. This includes collaborating with the office and practice leads on short and long-term strategic planning, annual business planning, on-going business development and client development, team member recruiting and retention, team member professional development, consistently meeting company high-performance expectations for team utilization and financial performance, and overall project production/quality. The Team Leader may also manage multiple projects and/or assist the project team with project management duties and best practices. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops annual business plan and longer-term team growth strategy in conjunction with the Practice Leader, Office Leader and Growth and Sales team
  • Provides daily management and overall leadership for the team.
  • Provides direction to each member of the team regarding prioritization of projects and tasks and to ensure team members have adequate work to meet their utilization goals.
  • Manages team financials to meet or exceed profitability goals, in accordance with company expectations.
  • Communicates effectively with team members regarding forecasting, workloads, project delivery, and financial performance of the team and the office.
  • Oversees and leads team business development and marketing efforts for existing clients, target clients and local opportunities for the team, which will include client specific strategy development, pursuit process execution, proposal interviews, and selection efforts.
  • Ensures high-quality client service through proactive, consistent, and effective communication with internal and external clients.
  • Proactively identifies and recruits team members for current and forecasted positions, leads succession planning for the team, including working with staff on their Internal Development Plans (IDPs), identifying high-potential employees, and regularly meeting with office leaders, practice leaders and business partners in workforce planning initiatives.
  • Oversees project management and quality control of the team\xe2\x80\x99s efforts in accordance with the company best practices.
  • Serves in advisory or committee roles for external professional organizations that provide relevant industry regulatory and best practices updates and affect public relation efforts for the firm.

You bring to the team:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in environmental engineering or the earth sciences
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in the environmental consulting industry
  • 5+ years of experience in recruiting and supervising team members, serving in a project management capacity, and performing senior-level management responsibilities.
  • Proven track record in meeting and exceeding client expectations through excellent project management and staffing.
  • Strong skill set and detailed knowledge of project and team financials including project earnings, salary distributions, indirect and direct cost analysis and overall team profit & loss.
  • Ability to attract, develop, and retain talented staff who deliver results.
  • Excellent client management, client service orientation, and writing and presentation skills.
  • Substantial experience in marketing and developing business to build and maintain a strong workload for the full team.
