Job Description

Position Overview



We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist

to support workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations, along with expertise in safety management, industrial hygiene, and engineering-based safety practices. Certifications such as

CSP

or

CIH

and experience with

Lean/Six Sigma

methodologies are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities1. Safety Compliance & Regulatory Management



Ensure compliance with

OSHA

,

EPA

,

DOT

, and other federal, state, and local regulations. Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures. Conduct environmental compliance checks, waste management oversight, and reporting.

2. Health & Safety Program Management



Lead initiatives to promote workplace health, safety, and environmental stewardship. Develop training programs related to hazard communication, PPE, emergency response, and safe work practices. Perform regular facility inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.

3. Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions



Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and environmental events. Recommend corrective and preventive actions to reduce risks and ensure compliance. Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation.

4. Industrial Hygiene & Exposure Control



Conduct air sampling, noise monitoring, chemical exposure assessments, and other IH evaluations. Assist in developing engineering and administrative controls to minimize exposure to occupational hazards.

5. Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives



Lead or support projects using

Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies

to improve EHS performance. Identify opportunities for process optimization and risk reduction.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration



Work closely with operations, engineering, HR, facilities, and leadership to implement EHS initiatives. Provide guidance to internal teams on compliance requirements and best practices.

Required Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline. Strong knowledge of

OSHA, EPA, DOT

, and other regulatory standards. Experience in developing and implementing EHS programs in industrial, manufacturing, or engineering environments. Proficiency in risk assessments, safety audits, and corrective action planning. Strong communication, training, and reporting skills.

Preferred Qualifications



Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

or

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

. Experience with

Lean

,

Six Sigma

, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Hands-on exposure to industrial hygiene tools and environmental monitoring equipment.
Job Type: Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour

Experience:

OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory standards: 3 years (Preferred) EHS programs in industrial, manufacturing, or engineering: 3 years (Preferred)
