Job Purpose:

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for providing daily direction, developing, planning, and coordinating activities within the framework of The Toro Company EHS Program. The EHS Manager must be skilled in interpreting, communicating, and complying with regulations that apply across business operations. Exhibits exceptional leadership skills and able to work across functional boundaries to achieve a zero-harm culture. This role will have site EHS Program responsibility at the BOSS factory in Iron Mountain, MI.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage the EHS function and EHS staff at the Tomah, Wisconsin factory. Provide leadership and coaching to direct report(s) and operations leaders to implement the elements of The Toro Company EHS Program as well as develop proactive safety processes to achieve a zero-harm culture.

Champion continuous improvement efforts, ensuring EHS programming and initiatives are value-added for the employees, the factory, and corporation.

Create and execute strategic plans and goals that achieve regulatory compliance while improving organizational processes and mitigating operational risk.

Manage the site safety team to ensure it is appropriately staffed, supported by leadership, and effectively operated to include regularly scheduled meetings, perform audits/assessments, publish/post meeting minutes and metrics.

Report pertinent EHS data and performance metrics to corporate leadership on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and develop new programs or amend existing programming to ensure compliance.

Establish collaborative working relationships with internal customers, insurance providers, vendors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.

Mentor and develop EHS team members to help them attain their career progression goals.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field required such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental, Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Technology. Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred.

One or more applicable certificates preferred (i.e. CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE, OHST). Must have the ability to obtain a professional certification within 3 years after starting in the EHS Manager role.

At least 2 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or assembly work environment

8 or more years of EHS experience, leading and building comprehensive programs with evidence of continuous improvement.

Experienced strategist who is able map the path forward, while resolving challenges along the way.

Change leader who can coach organizational leaders on how to effectively deploy EHS strategies.

Skilled project manager able to conceive, develop, and execute EHS related projects and initiatives.

Active listener and effective communicator who can positively influence all levels of the organization.

Visionary who can anticipate EHS needs, develop viable solution(s), and take appropriate action to achieve operational excellence.

Critical thinker who is able to interpret changing regulations and clearly articulate the impact of those changes to the organization.

Strong business acumen, able to assist operations leaders to position safety as an integrated part of the manufacturing process, rather than a bolt-on application with conflicting priorities.

Insatiable professional curiosity, continually looking for new ideas, methods, and best practices to make Toro\xe2\x80\x99s EHS programming best in class.

Flexible professional who can work efficiently and effectively as part of a team or independently.

Reports to Sr. EHS Manager of Northern Operations located in Bloomington, MN

Dotted-line reporting to Director of Operations located in Iron Mountain, MI

Supervises 1 direct report

Physical demands:

Requires walking, bending, kneeling and standing for extended periods of time.

Periodically carries equipment or tools weighing up to 25 lbs.

Regular use of personal protective equipment, which includes: safety-toe footwear with metatarsal guarding, high-visibility vest, eye protection

Travel expectations:

Infrequent travel; up to 10% by automobile and air
