Environment of Care Supervisor

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as the Facilities appointed Safety Officer, and Emergency Management Program Coordinator and liaison to Local and State authorities.
  • Coordinates multiple weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings. Documenting appropriately the outcomes of the meetings, and implementing appropriate follow up measures to resolve reported issues as it relates to Life Safety, Environment of Care, Environmental Safety and Emergency Management.
  • Works with various departments on obtaining chemical inventories and SDS data.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with colleagues, departmental heads, and leadership.
  • Ensures applicable safety, life safety and emergency management policies, processes and procedures are implemented throughout the organization, and when there is a deviation in policy / process / procedure, works to resolve the issue.
  • Works closely to educate, coordinate and implement strategic initiatives related to Life Safety, Environment of Care, Environmental Safety and Emergency Management at the facility.
  • Provides orientation for new employees in Life Safety, Environment of Care, Environmental Safety, and Emergency Management.
  • Maintains national and state knowledge and expertise with multiple accreditation standards, certification programs, laws and regulations as applicable to hospitals and Article 28 facilities.
  • Develops internal audit reports and analyzes data to determine local trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Works closely ensuring accreditation and regulatory goals are met with departments to include, but are not limited to Plant Operations, Environmental Services, Security, Infection Control, Construction Management, Risk Management, Employee Health, and Nursing.
  • Assists with apparent cause analysis (ACA) and failure, mode, effects analysis projects.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned
  • Conforms with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable policies for patient privacy and applicable Catholic Health Security Policies and Procedures

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges, or universities.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree required; preferably in engineering or related field.
  • Current certification / licensure / registration preferred in a field related to plant technology, and / or safety management, e.g. Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) and Certified Healthcare Emergency Manager (CHEP)
Skills:
  • Knowledge in healthcare or related setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of the NFPA Life Safety Code 101.
  • Working knowledge of the Joint Commission standards and elements of performance
Related to the EC, EM and LS chapters,
  • Experience in participation in a Joint Commission Survey, and / or CMS / State survey.
  • Demonstrated expertise with interpersonal skills, communication skills, group facilitation, public speaking, writing skills, presentations, and staff / leadership education.
  • Demonstrated competency in Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and data base management.
  • Self-motivated individual who is comfortable with prioritizing job demands and expectations as they arise / change

Experience:
  • 3 years minimum experience in healthcare Environment of Care, Life Safety, Emergency Management and / or an equivalent field.
  • Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) training or experience in running / participating in a Hospital Command Center (HCC) and / or Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
  • Successful completion of FEMA ICS. 100 & 200, and IS. 700 & 800 courses.
  • OSHA 30 hour certification, preferred.
  • Hazardous Materials \xe2\x80\x93 Operations Level Training, preferred.
  • Two years of applicable leadership experience, preferred
