Responsibilities



Assist in preparing ingredients for sushi, including rice, fish, vegetables, and garnishes with attention to food safety and hygiene standards Learn and execute basic sushi rolling, slicing, and plating techniques under supervision Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, ensuring all tools and surfaces meet sanitation requirements Support the kitchen team during meal preparation and service, contributing to smooth restaurant operations Handle food with care, following proper food handling procedures to ensure freshness and safety Participate in menu planning discussions by providing input on ingredient availability and presentation ideas Follow all safety protocols related to knife skills, food storage, and handling to uphold high standards of quality

Requirements



Some experience or exposure to food preparation, cooking, or restaurant environments is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm for learning is essential Familiarity with food safety practices and proper food handling procedures Basic knife skills or willingness to learn precise cutting techniques for sushi ingredients Strong interest in culinary arts, especially Japanese cuisine or fine dining experiences Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward learning from experienced chefs Prior experience in dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus but not required
