Summary

The IT Infrastructure Engineer II/III - Enterprise Monitoring is responsible for the maintenance, installation, and configuration of infrastructure technologies and next generation technologies. May be involved with complex system integration testing and evaluation.

Collaborates with other technology teams across the enterprise, i.e. application, database, server, storage, network, security, Network Operations Center, etc. to develop effective monitoring solutions and implement automation where needed.

Generate, assess, and improve alerting with a focus on proactive alerting and self-healing.

Mentoring and collaborating with other platforms and product engineers to share experience and deliver value.

Developing custom code in a testable and sustainable way.

Working with our partners to translate product goals into prioritized platform requirements.

Working on the tools and services that turn hard problems into turnkey solutions.

Working in a sophisticated and evolving environment.

Working in highly regulated areas and complying with strict procedures.

Provides day-to-day support, maintenance and troubleshooting of supported tools.

Must be able to work rotating on-call schedule.

Minimum Requirements

Infrastructure Engineer II

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field and 2 year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Requires working technical knowledge gained through experience within a job area or system
Infrastructure Engineer III
  • Bachelors\' degree in Information Technology or related field and 5 year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Requires strong technical knowledge within a job area or system and basic knowledge across related technical areas.
  • Position is looking for people with experience with at least some of these tools or similar products and a passion for learning:
  • Experience with protocols such as: SNMP, SSH, WMI
  • Micro Focus SiteScope, Micro Focus Operations Manager (Omi/Omw), Micro Focus Network Node Manager (NNMi), Nagios
  • DynaTrace
  • Elastic Search, LogStash, Kibana (ELK), beats
  • Extrahop
  • ServiceNow Event Management
  • Paging systems such as xMatters or ServiceNow Notify
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
  • Knowledge of all infrastructure technologies (compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS); infrastructure management tools and monitoring tools; solution sizing for hardware/software platforms; industry standard security requirements and designs.
  • Troubleshooting; advanced design, maintenance and repair of servers; applying creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met; advanced information system configuration management
  • Ability to developing and write technical documentation; evaluate and test emerging technologies.
  • Experience with the following: DevOps tools like Terraform, Jenkins or Ansible; working in an agile environment; Python or other comparable skills.
Major Accountabilities

1) Under general direction, responsible for the maintenance of installed infrastructure technologies as well as the installation and configuration of these technologies within specific area

2) Participates in business requirements meetings

3) Partners with technical architects to translate the architectural designs into operations

4) Develops plans to manage the frequency of support package/patch application

5) Administers equipment, hardware, and software upgrades

6) Provides higher level support to help desk staff

7) Completes and manages accurate infrastructure- related documentation in accordance with company security standards

8) Maintains and manages systems infrastructure and network appliance operations

9) Supports multiple systems or applications of moderate to high complexity (e.g., size, technology, systems feeds)

10) Provides advice to infrastructure engineers with less experience or to a small team

11) May manage projects at this level, requiring responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others\' work products and engineering projects

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:
  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
