POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing processes and contributing to developing efficient and effective production methods. This will include learning and analyzing existing manufacturing processes, assisting in the identification of areas for improvement, and supporting the implementation of innovative solutions to enhance productivity, manufacturability, and resource utilization.

This position may also include responsibilities within New Product Development, where they will support the manufacturing team in the industrialization of new designs.

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will report directly to the Principal Manufacturing Engineer.

Principal Activities and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in New Product Development: Support the manufacturing engineering team in the introduction of new products or product variations. This may include participating in design reviews, assessing the manufacturability of new designs, and contributing to the development of manufacturing documentation and work instructions.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Assist in implementing quality control measures to ensure that products meet the required standards and specifications. This may involve conducting inspections, participating in root cause analysis, and contributing to corrective and preventive actions.
  • Tooling and Equipment Management: Work closely with the team to evaluate, select, and maintain manufacturing equipment and tooling. This includes assisting in the calibration and setup of machinery, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring the proper maintenance of tools.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to analyze existing production processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements to enhance manufacturability and efficiency.

  • As an intern in high school seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern position, the candidate may not have extensive professional experience or advanced technical knowledge
However, they can still possess specific knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that would make them a valuable asset for the internship

Basic Knowledge and Required Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving skills to assist in identification of issues and propose solutions within a manufacturing and engineering context.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in using word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new concepts and technologies
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in manufacturing and engineering-related tasks.
  • Communicates accurately, clearly, and directly both verbally and written, internally and externally
Education
  • Junior or Senior in Highschool with a strong desire to continue education in a STEM field.

  • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex situations, evaluate alternatives, and make informed decisions with support from the larger team.

PAY RANGE: $19-$21. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
