  • 1st Shift: 7:30am - 4:00pm
This key engineering position is responsible for completing the OSP Engineering design regionally for our telecommunications customers, meeting their quality requirements in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the OSP engineering process from project award through permit closeout and as-built submittal.
  • Accountable for total project scope and quality control.
  • Underground and aerial permitting with state DOTs, cities, counties, railroads, environmental, and other permitting authorities.
  • Make ready process for aerial construction projects.
  • Provide detailed design for fiber distribution facilities to meet FTTX service demands.
  • Participate with other groups to develop action plans to reduce operating expense through facility replacement, modernization, bulk recovery and records correction.
  • Take detailed field notes for the design.
  • Provide QA of the construction drawings using the customer's Quality Requirements.
  • Deliver the finished product to the customer in a professional format.
  • Document changes to or modifications of customer specifications.
  • Track & report job progress.
  • Interact with customers on developing specifications for proposed projects.
  • Directs and coordinates MRE activities for the project.
  • Leads meetings and subsequent coordination activities with pole owners / utilities regarding make-ready submittals, design and construction requirements and activities.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to clients, project and functional management as directed and as appropriate.
Required Skills
  • Detailed knowledge of OSP installation, maintenance technician activities, Loop Electronic Engineering / Coordination and Transmission Equipment Engineering.
  • Outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal) and customer service skills.
  • Competent in reading work prints.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Motivation and self-direction in performing to critical deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented and demonstrates good organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and use good judgment in day-to-day activities.
  • Critical thinker capable of analyzing issues and solving problems.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment successfully.
  • Must be flexible to take on additional projects and job duties when required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to environmental laws and regulations as applicable.
Required Experience
  • 5+ years' experience as an OSP Design Engineer in the telecommunications industry.
  • Experience with CADD a plus.
  • 2+ years working in the cable industry or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in MSOffice (Word, Excel, Access, and Project), report preparation, and data analysis.
