About the Position
This is a para-professional engineering position within the Division of Building Plan Review. The incumbent is responsible for plans administration to ensure services are delivered timely and appropriately during the permitting process to both internal and external customers. Work is performed that affords independent judgment and technical evaluation under the general supervision of the Section Supervisor and/or the Division Associate Director or designee. The incumbent performs work diligently to complete tasks and duties as assigned. The incumbent will also be responsible for performing a variety of clerical and/or administrative duties relative to the processing of applications and issuance of various County permits
About The Agency
The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is responsible for coordinating and enforcing standards that control what goes on before, during, and after construction. Staff from nine agencies, who work cooperatively on permit processing, business licensing, plan review, inspection and enforcement comprise Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The Mission of the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is to promote economic development in Prince George's County and protect the safety of County residents, businesses, and visitors through efficient permitting, inspection and licensing services to ensure compliance with established building, zoning and property standards codes.
Examples of Work

Receipt and Process Plans: Receives and process commercial and residential building plan submissions. Reviews each submittal package for completeness and accuracy
Quality control - checks plans, applications and workflows, returning same as necessary. Coordinates the review process and provides assistance and guidance to applicants
Records Management / Plans Log Out: Coordinates collation, stamping and release of approved plans to the Permits Office for issuance. Verifies that all disciplines have reviewed and appropriately recorded their approvals in both the automated and manual systems. Ensures in-house archiving of issued engineering plans in accordance with the approved records retention schedule
ePlan (ProjectDox) Coordinator/Facilitator: Responsible for ensuring that the ePlan system is accessible, reliable and functional for internal and external users
Customer Services: Responsible for handling inquiries from internal and external customers as they pertain to general plan review and permitting requirements
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
------------------
Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by college level courses in higher mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, geometry) and civil engineering,
Four (4) years of para-professional engineering experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be accepted
Preferred Qualifications:
Building/structural plan review experience
Experience with eplan, momentum or other electronic permitting and plan review software
ICC / NFPA building plan review and/or inspections experience, engineering or architectural bachelor's degree

General Plan Information:
The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31. A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse. Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate.
