Job Description

The position to be filled has roles in quality control of products manufactured by vendors as well as quality control of plans and designs prepared internally for projects. The Engineering Manager will be required to provide review on day-to-day designs of stormwater management systems and to lend guidance to the structural designs of those systems. The Engineering Manager will also be involved in new product. This role requires a combination of technical and business skills and an ability to provide leadership to junior staff members. The Engineering Manager reports to the CEO.

Leadership & Team Management:



Provide technical guidance and leadership on engineering design, planning, and execution for all projects. Develop and implement processes to improve team efficiency, communication, and performance. Assist in hiring and training of engineering support.

Project Oversight & Technical Expertise:



Oversee the technical execution of low-impact development projects, ensuring designs and solutions meet industry standards and sustainability goals. Collaborate with architects, urban planners, and environmental experts to integrate engineering solutions with sustainable development practices. Manage engineering resources and schedules, ensuring that project milestones are achieved and potential risks are mitigated. Evaluate the technical feasibility of new projects and ensure that all engineering aspects comply with environmental regulations and industry's best practices. Provide technical presentations and proposals to clients, effectively communicating complex engineering concepts in an accessible manner. Provide on-site technical support during construction Conduct site inspections and resolve design issues. Verify work is being executed per design and standards.

Innovation & Technology:



Provide guidance in the adoption of new engineering technologies and practices to lead the industry in Low Impact Development. Attend industry related events to stay abreast of new developments. Stay current on professional development opportunities. Work with senior leadership to define engineering department long-term strategy focusing on technical expertise and meeting the demands of a growing company. Stay current on regulatory changes and how they relate to the usage of company's products.

Budget & Resource Management:



Develop and manage engineering project budgets, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints while maintaining high quality. Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands, balancing internal and external support requirements.

Product Development



Collaborate with project design teams regarding the usage and manufacture of new products during the design process. Assist vendors in the development of production methods for new products. Work closely with marketing personnel to develop collateral materials for sales. Identify new vendors and manage the sourcing of materials for new products.

Manufactured Products



Overview of vendor quality control, including a regular assessment of vendor made products in accordance with ASTM and other industry standards. Consultation with vendors on changes to production methods and evaluation of their successes. Design and procurement of new equipment required for new production vendors. Assisting new production vendors with implementing new production lines Identify defects or areas needing inspections.

Skills and Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. LEED certification or other sustainability-related certifications is a plus. Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven experience in leading engineering teams and project management. Strong background in sustainable design and low-impact development practices. In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to sustainable construction and engineering. Strong technical expertise in engineering design, project management, and construction processes. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to balance technical expertise with business acumen. Problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovative and sustainable solutions. Proficiency in engineering software and project management tools. Proficiency in engineering software, including CAD, Microsoft Office Suite EXCEL, hydrology and project management tools.

Working Conditions



The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Physical Requirements



Light work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Balancing

: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount and kind of balancing the amount and kind of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

Stooping

: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles

Crouching

: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

Reaching

: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Standing

: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time

Walking

: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another

Pushing

: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

Pulling

: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Lifting

: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles

Fingering

: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

Grasping

: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm

Feeling

: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
