Job Description


job summary:
This position is for a senior Engineering Services and Support Lab Assistant who is under general supervision. Performs basic to moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects. Collaborates with higher level support staff to confer with engineers on details and implications of test station drawings and construction. May assist in some orienting, training, and assigning work of technical/business support employees.

Requirements, Skills, and Attributes (4 years experience preferred with the following):

  • Experience reading engineering drawings and using lookup tools.
  • Multi-pin cable and connector construction.
  • Cable continuity verification
  • Self Motivated-Problem solving skills
  • Organized/Clean
  • People Skills/Works well with others
  • Very Detail Oriented-High Quality of Workmanship
Qualifications:
  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR
  • In the absence of a High School diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required OR
  • A Bachelor\'s degree in the appropriate discipline and less than 2 years of relevant experience.

responsibilities:
  • Under supervision, provides mechanical station build support for research, design, development or manufacturing activities for various customers.
  • Responsible for reading engineering drawings and building engineering test stations and associated cabling and connectors.
  • Uses engineering tools and systems to lookup needed reference and program information.
  • Documents test station design modifications and has responsibility for documentation maintenance.
  • Assists engineers with the development of new engineering processes and/or products to ensure their manufacturability, under supervision may recommend design changes.
  • Perform as member of design team including participant role utilizing effective communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of written/verbal instruction methods used by customers.
  • May provide some support/instruction to less experienced mechanical technicians.
