Project Description:

Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our Transmission Planning Organization, specifically, within our Denver, CO location. The paid internship provides an opportunity to showcase your abilities in one of our engineering groups that supports various business units throughout the company. The program provides practical work experience to develop your existing skillset, present to senior leadership, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders. Each intern will be relied upon to play a role in achieving department objectives and goals. The program will allow you to apply what you've learned in school and further enhance your knowledge through hands-on training and provide opportunities to network and learn with other interns across the organization.



Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Help develop a carbon free future Development of transmission planning models Interact with internal stakeholders on transmission planning projects Development of critical thinking skills and applying to unique transmission problems



This position is for a June 1, 2026 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel Energy's business needs.

Minimum Requirements

Current student, Senior or Grad school status (as of Fall 2026). Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with an interest in Power. Able to commute to the corporate office and local resident to Denver, CO. Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the fall (up to 20 hours a week).

Preferred Qualifications

Power System courses or Programs Experience or Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $24.00 to $30.10 per hour
This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
