The Industrial Engineer will work directly with the Senior IE(s) to evaluate, design, and develop production standards in collaboration with management and cross-functional teams. This position requires a well-rounded industrial engineering, quality, and operations skillset to reduce waste, maximize efficiency, and error-proof the process. This position proposes and executes improvement initiatives utilizing data driven decisions, while assuring safety and quality at the source.
ResponsibilitiesPerform time studies and assist Operations in maximizing efficiencies in OEE
Participate in and lead Value Stream Mapping events/projects
Establish and maintain labor standards for the manufacturing operation
Develop KPIs to track productivity metrics related to labor, equipment, quality, and supply chain
Partner with Senior IE(s) to own the design and optimization of site layouts for production, material flow, construction, and facilities
Partner with leadership, operations, and engineering teams to ensure that layout designs align with the manufacturing strategy and build plans
Utilize discrete event simulation modeling and statistical modeling to drive critical business decisions
Practice lean methodologies (Kanban, Heijunka, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Hoshin, SMED, JIT, etc.) for optimizing manufacturing efficiency
Identify, plan, and execute process efficiency opportunities throughout operations, including simplification, standardization, implementation, and sustainability
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to successfully interface with all levels and areas of the organization and provide clear and concise project summaries.
Project management skills, including developing project plans, timelines/schedules/budgets, proposed layouts, resource requirements, ROI calculation, etc.
Ability to lead complex cross-functional strategic projects, facilitate Kaizens, utilize DMAIC techniques and effectively drive value and change within organization.
Proficient in use of AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc. for layout design
Proficient with Excel and/or Minitab
Proficient in Python, Arena, Simul8, or other simulation software.
Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field of study required
Minimum of 5 years of related experience
Green Belt certification (SSGB, LSSGB) preferred
TravelLocal or overnight travel within North America may be required less than 10% of the time

Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
