The Advanced Technology & Information Solutions Strategic Business Unit provides scientific, engineering and other experts that work with our customers to solve their hardest problems and advance state-of-the-art technology. Our data solutions professionals deliver enterprise processing, analytics, exploitation and management, as well as information technology hardware that provide actionable information for warfighters and decision makers. Ball Aerospace\'s Albuquerque, New Mexico office is a key provider of science and technology services to the Air Force Research Laboratory and other government research and development organizations. Engineer I/Engineer II - RF

What You\'ll Do:

  • A wide variety of antenna and RF systems test and evaluation.
  • A wide variety of antenna and antenna-related RF component design and development.
  • Antenna requirement evaluation, initial concept trade-off and development, in-house and customer presentations, travel, and technical proposal writing and cost/schedule estimating.
  • Be responsible for the hands-on design and realization of antennas, RF circuits, and components.
  • Design and/or evaluate RF circuit architecture and RF/antenna performance.
  • Investigate new technologies and applications for electrically small antennas.
  • Apply technical expertise including some knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • May function in a project leadership role.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interact with external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Interface effectively with people at all levels and from diverse areas, seek out responsibilities and opportunities to contribute, regularly meets with customers, provide leadership to groups and teams and guidance to less experienced employees.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
What You\'ll Need:
  • Engineer I - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years of related experience.
  • Engineer II - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master\'s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Full competency in core RF engineering and antenna theory and skills and potentially specialization in electrically small antennas.
  • Excellent communication skills. Makes presentations and may lead group discussions.
  • Experience and skills to effectively contribute to successful producibility of designs.
  • Experience with design of electrically small antennas and a broad range of RF components (couplers of various types, amplifiers, filters, mixers)
  • Experience with microstrip filter design desired.
  • Analytical design experience using software and simulation tools such as AWR Microwave Office/Agilent ADS, CST, FEKO, HFSS, and SENTRI.
  • Experience with antenna range measurements.
  • Experience and proficiency in programming, data manipulation, and data visualization in MATLAB desired.
  • Must be able to create effective test plans; schedule and execute measurements at internal and external facilities; perform measurement analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical expertise in RF engineering and to leverage knowledge of other related disciplines.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER I: $93,000 - $115,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER II: $112,500 - $139,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
