POWER your future with Qualus as an Electrical Distribution Engineer. The Distribution Engineer I is responsible for utility distribution design projects under the guidance of a Sr Distribution Designer/Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Problem identification and resolution in regard to electrical distribution system design, leveraging knowledge of standards, practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Design of overhead and underground distribution routes, including site inspections on public and private utility systems
  • Develop and prepare distribution design packages to be used for installation.
  • Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bills of material, and other deliverables as required by the client.
  • Perform various distribution calculations such as cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
  • Perform project design and review in compliance with client, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Effectively communicate with internal, client and regulatory counterparts regarding design packages and resolving issues.
  • Adhere to production timelines.
Qualifications
  • AS Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field required, BS Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal, client and regulatory counterparts.
  • Ability to maintain production in a changing environment
  • Strong computer and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and operate client provided programs and systems.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
  • Able to perform computations involving electrical power.
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities and properly identifies issues requiring immediate attention from those that are less urgent. Develops project plans, orders resources and materials, holds job kick off meetings, and is able to identify changes in work scopes.
  • Examines information, facts, and data, and draws logical conclusions from available information. Thinks under pressure and acts prudently concerning the safety of others.
